Leadership Team

Roy Mycock

Roy and his wife Trish have been married for 54 years, and have 3 children.

Roy has been a part of RCF since 1972, except for a few years pastoring a small band of believers in East Manchester. Roy is currently part of the leadership team at RCF.

Roy’s hobbies include crown green bowling, going to the gym and playing music, mostly on the harmonica.

My favourite Bible verse is John 3:16, because it’s the gospel in a nutshell. One of my favourite characters in the Bible is Moses, because he was a man of the people, but, first and foremost, a man of God.

Tom Turner

Tom has been an elder at RCF for nearly forty years. Tom is a keen musician, playing guitar  during worship each Sunday morning. Tom also leads a house group each Tuesday, looking through a book of the Bible systematically and with an eye for practical application in everyday life.

Tom’s favourite Bible passage is John 15:1-5, but Ezekiel is his inspiration:

Ezekiel was totally faithful to calling, preaching the Word under extreme circumstances.

 

Mark Byrne

Mark has attended RCF since childhood and now serves the fellowship through his teaching ministry. A Research Manager by trade, Mark likes to unwind by reading History and by travelling.

Mark is interested in the lives of Old Testament saints. In particular, Mark finds inspiration in Jeremiah presenting a “face like flint” to hostility from without, and heartache from within, in carrying out his calling from God. Mark’s favourite prayer in the Bible comes from Proverbs 30:7-8: “Two things I ask of you, Lord; do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.”

 

Matthew Wong

Matthew has been attending RCF since 2006 after becoming a Christian at university. When not in work, he enjoys taking long walks in the countryside, drinking coffee and dipping into books. Matthew has an active interest in studying theology, in particular the relationship between the Church and Israel in God’s plan of redemption. One of his favourite characters is the prophet Daniel who, as an exile in Babylon, showed what it meant to live uprightly for Christ, yet peaceably with man, in a hostile land.

One of Matthew’s favourite passages is Philippians 4:6-7: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (NASB).

 

Mark Greaves

Mark has been attending RCF since 2012, having arrived with his wife Sarah when they were expecting their first child. Mark loves the outdoors and running on the fells near his home in Hadfield. Mark has studied at King’s Evangelical Divinity School and loves exploring the Bible.

Mark is passionate about encouraging spiritual growth in God’s people, and seeing the results in people’s lives. Mark’s favourite biblical character is Paul because of his immense spiritual strength in times of adversity. Mark’s favourite Bible passage is 2 Tim 4:1-8.

We believe:

In the unity of the triune God in the persons of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit;

2

That the Bible is God’s written communication to the whole of mankind, through which He reveals Himself and His purposes for us, making it the supreme authority in all matters of doctrine and conduct;

3

In the incarnation of God the Son as the Lord Jesus Christ, being miraculously born of a virgin;

4

In the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ as the only means of atonement for our sins and reconciliation with God;

5

In the necessity of being ‘born again’ by the grace of God through repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ;

6

In the water baptism of believers via total immersion;

7

In the calling of every believer to allow the Lord Jesus Christ to bear fruit in their lives via the Holy Spirit who indwells them;

8

In the future return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth in judgement, followed by His millennial reign from Jerusalem;

9

In eternal life for those who repent and put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and eternal punishment for those who do not.

In addition, we believe that the Bible teaches the following,
in relation to gender and marriage:

In the beginning, God created male and female in His own image, with different but complementary characteristics. It is therefore contrary to God’s created order for a person to attempt to adopt a gender other than their biological sex, and ultimately it is impossible to do so.
Marriage is the lifelong and exclusive union of one man and one woman, and that this is the only appropriate context for sexual relationships. Marriage was instituted by God at creation, and it signifies the mystical union between Christ and His Church.

Finally, we believe that the Bible points to a literal reign of Christ on earth for a thousand years, as described in Isaiah, Daniel, Revelation and elsewhere. We also believe that God’s covenant with Abraham is unconditional, that God will fulfil His promises to Israel in a literal way, and that the establishment of modern day Israel is in accordance with the revealed will of God (Ezekiel 36-37).

We encourage Christians to study, understand and treasure God’s promises to Israel as a testimony to God’s faithfulness, but we welcome all believers to RCF, regardless of their views about Israel and the end times.
